Do you trust a bank that owns the currency?

For those not familiar, the word on the street is that four large international banks are building there own digital currency using Blockchain technology. While my default position is that this runs counter to all that is free and open digital currency, I have to ask the question. Is there really anything to worry about? I dare say yes. What thought have you?
